Return. Rest. Prayer

“For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” — Isaiah 30:15

The Lord God’s invitation to ‘return and rest’ remains a gentle rallying call for us today. How will we respond? The pages of these books have been written by faithful men and women to help us answer this question – to be read by hearts with a sweet longing for home.

As C. S. Lewis, in Till we all have faces, put it: “The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing — to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from — my country, the place where I ought to have been born. Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back.”

The Lord is calling His people to return home to His mission… Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” — John 14:23

In the present turmoil, these titles will help you find the quietness and assurance your heart, and all around you, is yearning for. “The heart is restless, O Lord, ’til it finds rest in Thee.”  – St. Augustine
