"Each of us can come up with our own list of "if onlys"--We will experience peace once our troublesome circumstances are resolved, once that difficult person moves on, once we find a new job. . . What happens when our circumstances remain frustratingly the same. Can we still find the peace God promises?"

We want to find a way to banish our anxiety, let go of the peace-destroying thoughts that plague us, rid ourselves of memories that control & disturb us. What is this peace that can calm a raging heart and create a bulwark against which the forces of darkness are impotent; the peace that enabled Jesus to walk through the crowd that sought to throw Him off a cliff (Luke 4:28-30); the authority to calm a stormy sea (Mark 4:35-41)? When we walk in the peace that God gives, people, situations or circumstances can't control us.

God's peace is trustworthy, not something we're to rely on intermittently to alleviate anxious thoughts or get us through troubling situations. It should be a 24/7 experience to govern us, guide us, guard us, gather people around us and ground us in everything we do.  ― Dennis Clark
